so no one will really understand this. but i have a major trad music problem:
jay ungar (who is AMAZING and one of the coolest most talented people ever) wrote a great waltz called “ashokan farewell.” problem is: there are only two appropriate times to play that tune: 1) in ken burns’ civil war series, or 2) the VERRY last waltz on the last day of ashokan fiddle and dance camp (yes regardless of week).
BUT when I type “jay ungar” in to youtube, i get a BAJILLION assholes thinking they can play the waltz as well as jay, who feel like posting it, who feel like posting there children playing it, or feel like using it as music for a memorial for the pet hamster or whatever.
long story short unless you name is in fact jay ungar or you are part of the ashokan culture… leave the tune alone!!!!! this also goes for muzak versions of it which make me wanna barf.
ashokan culture is a very sacredly awkward being… don’t try to understand it by playing that waltz. seriously!! there are lots of other pretty waltzes out there that aren’t soooo engrained in a specific culture or so deeply meaningful to such a small number of people.
just go play shebag shemore, you fuckers!!!

i strangely enjoy this show. i realize the guy is completely nuts. because he feeds and lives with bears. there are a few things i don’t understand though. it’s okay in alaska to feed bears with the intention of shooting them. this guy is commiting a federal offence by feeding bears at his cabin in the middle of east-bumfuck alaska. but it would be okay if he were going to shoot the bears a mile from his cabin!?! what the hell!!???!!
okay so that’s my rant about the stupidity of alaska beyond sarah palin.
also. this week is already bad and it’s only monday. for the three people who follow me (all of whom are amazing), please post things to cheer me up
